Architectural Addition
Residential project
Nestled in a charming North Leeds village, this captivating barn conversion project introduces an exquisite zinc clad extension that not only expands the main living space, but also serves as a seamless link to the surrounding countryside.
BRIEF
The key to the brief was to create a functional yet striking family space suitable for both relaxation and entertaining. The client asked for materials that complimented the heritage and setting of the building whilst adding a contemporary and luxurious feel.
DESIGN
The natural quartzite worktops with their beautifully unique veining adds depth and interest, juxtaposing the sleek cabinetry and contemporary fixtures. The earthy hues of the material are central to the scheme, with warm grey and brown tones echoed in other elements of the design. Bronze mirror is used for the splashback, reflecting the charming stone courtyard and creating a captivating play of light and space.
The layout of the kitchen encourages a harmonious flow, ensuring the kitchen effortlessly transitions from the hub of family baking sessions to an inviting space for entertaining guests. The central island serves as a versatile focal point, facilitating meal preparation and casual gathering. The inclusion of the co-ordinating media unit creates a cohesive aesthetic throughout the living space.
