Bold & Beautiful
Residential
Located in a picturesque and highly sought-after village in North Leeds, this stone-built period property boasts expansive mature gardens with breathtaking views of rolling countryside views. The clients undertook a complete renovation to update the layout, enhancing the space to make it better suited for modern living.
BRIEF
The aim was to create a stylish, functional, and family-focused open-plan kitchen, diner, and snug space for a sociable couple with two children and beloved family dog. They envisioned a space where the family could gather, dine, and enjoy quality time together, all comfortably within a single room. Additionally, they wanted to create the perfect setting for large family parties and entertaining guests, with a seamless connection to the outdoor terrace. The design needed to be bold and striking, durable for heavy cooking, and practical for the family’s daily routines.
DESIGN
The design centers around the expansive island, creating a place for the family to gather and be seated, whilst clearly dividing the cooking and seating areas. The island features durable sintered stone worktops, offer generous space for food preparation and family baking, whilst being easy to clean. The furniture is segmented to cater to different tasks, including a breakfast cabinet for the kids to use, away from the cooking zone, a drinks area conveniently located near the dining area for entertaining, and an adjoining pantry to keep a well-stocked supply of food. A feature fireplace was integrated to divide the snug and dining areas, establishing distinct zones whilst maintaining a flow and feeling of connection in the space. The dark imitation wood finish adds depth and contrast against the light porcelain marble floors, with a mix textures warmer elements and brass accents to bring warmth and sophistication to the design.
