Checkmate

Residential project

A stunning project in the coastal town, Saltburn-On-Sea, this creative couple have lovingly renovated their Victorian property to showcase their quirky and eclectic style.

BRIEF

The clients, Neil a professional photographer and Daisy a Creative practitioner, along with their son Solo, needed a highly practical, yet understated backdrop, forming a space to cook and socialise, effortlessly weaving between busy family life and weekends of entertaining. While high quality furniture and appliances were required, the kitchen was to be a timeless blank canvas as to let the personalised accessories and artwork stand out.

DESIGN

The solution was to create a kitchen that disappeared into the architecture, rather than appear overly functional, allowing their wild and idiosyncratic style to do the talking. Pure geometric and linear forms provide the subtle pragmatism of a kitchen while the delicate Wedgewood blue ceiling, gallery walls and striking checkerboard floor contrast to the crisp Lotus White cabinetry. A long open shelf above the sink offers a display area for playful décor.

PROJECT FEATURES

The kitchen project features SieMatic SLC furniture in Lotus White and Quartz worktops, Siemens appliances, BORA cooktop & extraction and Quooker boiling water tap.
